Earth Grid Design

Client: Glencore – Hail Creek Mine

Cell was engaged to design several new earth grids on site for expansions of their 66kV network.
Tasks included soil resistivity testing, System modelling for split factors and anticipated step/touch limitations, as well as fault current consideration. Cell Engineering was also approached to perform an injection test on each system to determine step and touch limits and report on our findings. Cell supplied equipment and labour to complete the tasks and coordinate activities with the mine. Cell used its own internal off-frequency injection test unit to complete the tasks. Cell has units located in Darwin and Mackay.
