Hazardous Area Assessment
CLIENT: Fitzroy – Ironbark Mine
Hazardous Area Assessment services provided by Cell Engineering supported compliance verification and safe energisation of a new Gas Drainage Plant at Fitzroy Ironbark Mine.
Hazardous Area Compliance Scope
Cell Engineering was engaged to complete a Hazardous Area Assessment for a newly constructed Gas Drainage Plant associated with mining operations at Fitzroy Ironbark Mine. The project required a Queensland-licensed Hazardous Area auditor to conduct detailed inspections and review compliance against the AS/NZS 60079 series of standards. The assessment included physical inspection of installed equipment, review of hazardous area documentation, compliance verification activities, and development of a punch list identifying potential non-compliant items requiring rectification. Following completion of the required corrective actions, Cell Engineering issued a detailed compliance report and certification documentation supporting safe energisation of the system.
Electrical Engineering and Hazardous Areas Expertise
Hazardous Area Assessment activities are critical within mining and industrial environments where explosive atmospheres, gas exposure, and operational risks require strict compliance with recognised safety standards.
Cell Engineering provides hazardous area auditing, electrical engineering design, operational technology, power systems, and industrial compliance services across mining, infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors throughout Australia.
Compliance Auditing and System Verification
The project involved review of hazardous area dossiers, initial inspection checklists, engineering documentation, and RPEQ-certified design information to verify compliance with operational and safety requirements.
By combining practical site inspection activities with engineering compliance expertise, Cell Engineering helped support safe commissioning outcomes, improved operational confidence, and alignment with hazardous area regulatory requirements.
Mining Hazardous Area Engineering
Hazardous Area Assessment projects within mining environments require detailed engineering review processes to ensure electrical equipment and infrastructure operate safely within potentially explosive atmospheres.
Cell Engineering applies practical hazardous area engineering expertise to help mining and industrial clients maintain compliance with Australian standards, reduce operational risks, and support safe energisation outcomes for critical infrastructure systems.
Our engineering team has experience supporting hazardous area audits, compliance inspections, electrical engineering reviews, and operational technology systems across complex industrial environments throughout Australia.
Engineering Compliance and Operational Safety
Compliance with the AS/NZS 60079 standards series is essential for hazardous area installations operating within mining and industrial sectors where gas exposure and explosive atmosphere risks must be carefully managed.
The Gas Drainage Plant audit involved physical inspections, documentation reviews, engineering verification activities, and compliance reporting to identify and address potential non-conformances prior to system energisation.
By combining practical site-based inspections with multidisciplinary engineering expertise, Cell Engineering helped support safe operational outcomes, regulatory compliance, and long-term infrastructure reliability for the project.
Our multidisciplinary team continues to deliver hazardous area engineering, power systems, operational technology, PLC and SCADA Engineering, and industrial compliance services across Australia’s mining and industrial sectors.
